Tyler’s Gourmet Ice Cream – Homemade Deliciousness

I scream, you scream, we all scream for tyler’s ice cream

Homemade ice cream, sundaes, milkshakes, and more! Tyler’s Ice Cream has been around for over 3 decades, and their quality of ice cream shows that they know what they’re doing. The vision was to provide the yummiest and freshest ice cream available ANYWHERE. Though I haven’t traveled the world and tried every ice cream out there, I would not be surprised if Tyler’s Ice Cream truly was the best. In my opinion they are!

The business is family owned and operated by Rob and Laura Alderson, who took over the business for the original owners, Larry and Geri Tyler. Since the ice cream shop was founded in 1984, 300 different flavors have been produced throughout the years. Luckily, Tyler’s has expanded to three locations, so now more people are able to enjoy their yummy treats and sweets. There’s one in Bradenton on Manatee Ave, a second location in Cortez Village, and the third is on Longboat Key.

So what more do we need to say? Delicious ice cream made fresh daily by great people! Stop in for a scoop, or two, at Tyler’s Gourmet Ice Cream!

Anna Maria Island Ice Cream Hot Spot – Dips Ice Cream

Anna Maria – What is best way to beat the heat on Anna Maria Island this summer?  I will give you a hint:

“I scream…  You scream… We all scream for ____________!”

That’s right ice-cream!   I know of this perfect little gem right in the heart of Anna Maria City called Dips Ice Cream.

They have so many things to choose from, but make sure you bring cash because if you don’t you will not be able to enjoy any of their delicious treats L  A few of their delectable flavors are (but not limited to):

  1. Salted Carmel
  2. Mint chocolate chip
  3. Red velvet cake
  4. Superman
  5. Black Raspberry
  6. Cookies-n-Cream
  7. Turtle Tracks
  8. French Vanilla

The list goes on and on!  All are offered in a cup, waffle-bowl, regular ice-cream cone, sugar cone or waffle cone.  You can even add toppings if you’d like.  You can also get handspun milkshakes, banana splits, Italian ice or gelato.

Don’t forget the little ones with the Old fashion candy/toys you can peruse as you are waiting to order.  I saw a few things I am going to take my daughter Shelby back to get after I pick her up from summer camp at the Anna Maria Island Community Center.  I would feel weird buying them for myself, so I get the relive my childhood through her… Hey don’t judge!

There are other ice-cream shops to choose from on Anna Maria, but this one is by far my favorite.  The others are just too busy for me.  I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes to get waited on at Dips.  When I want an ice-cream fix, I do not want to wait long!  Do yourself a favor, and make sure Dips Ice Cream is on your list of places to go while on Anna Maria Island.

Dips Ice Cream has relocated to the Pine Avenue General Store located on Pine Avenue.  Want more dessert ideas?

Shake Pit – the name says it all – Great Shake’s off Anna Maria

Sure, there are lots of spots on and off Anna Maria Island to pick up ice cream.  If you are in the mood for a thick old style milkshake there are less spots to suggest when visiting Anna Maria Island.  The Shake Pit is the spot to suggest if you are looking for a great milk shake that reminds you of the good – ole – days.  The employees even ask how thick you want your shake.  You can get extra thick and believe me that means it is thick.  Don’t plan to get the shake through a straw for a while.  If you want to drink the shake through a straw then just tell them that.

My favorite shake is Peanut Butter – Caramel.  That’s right, Peanut Butter, wow!  The Strawberry Shake is great for those that are not as adventurous.  One thing is for sure, whatever flavor you like grab a thick milk shake at the Shake Pit.  The Shake Pit is just off Manatee Avenue about 10 minutes off Anna Maria Island.

The Shake Pit has more than just shakes.  They have hamburgers, french fries, hot dogs, a few sandwiches, Onion Rings, fish and chicken baskets and a few other items to eat.  All in all its a perfect spot to have something to eat and most importantly indulge in one of life’s little pleasures – a thick, rich Milk Shake.

A few notes about the Shake Pit…they take cash only, pets are not allowed on the outdoor patio but you can chain them up to a tree nearby, the pit is normally closed on Wednesday’s. For more Ice Cream Choices on and off Anna Maria Island visit our top ten restaurants page.
