Located right along the Sarasota Bayfront there is a small water park with some fountains to play in, and there is also a playground for the kids to run around on after! Along the walk to the park you can take in some of the artwork on display created by local artists, or take a leisurely stroll around the 1/2 mile loop. Beautiful Holmes Beach on Anna Maria Island October

Grab your beach chairs, pack up a cooler and spend the day at the beach. It is eighty six degrees outside, the average water temperature this time of year is eighty five, and the sugar sand beaches on Anna Maria Island have never been more beautiful. Pristine beaches as far as my eyes can see, and everyone is enjoying their favorite outdoor activities.

Coquina Bike Path ~ Anna Maria Island’s Best on The Beach

Anna Maria Island is a great place to take a family walk, bike ride, or just enjoy the breath taking views of the Gulf of Mexico. So after you have checked into your Island vacation rental take a walk with your toes in the sand or along the paved path that spans the length of Coquina and Cortez beaches.  Located in Bradenton Beach just south of Bridge Street, you will find Cortez Beach.

This beach offers free parking and lots of it!  As you move further south into Coquina Beach, you will find public restrooms, picnic tables, beach showers, and lifeguards on duty.  Coquina beach also has a café that serves burgers and hot dogs right on the beach.

One of my favorite things to do is take a nice, easy bike ride through Coquina Beach. I start at the south end of the island under the Long Boat Key Bridge and head north towards Cortez Beach along the paved path. Take the time to enjoy island wildlife as you are greeted by squirrels, native birds like the Blue Heron, and if you are lucky, you may see dolphins or manatees enjoying their Florida lifestyle.

If you can’t bring your own bicycle, there are lots of places to rent them on Anna Maria Island.  No matter what activities you like to do on your beach vacation, check in with one of our Anna Maria Island vacation rental specialists and make sure that you get the most out of your Anna Maria Island Vacation.  We have beach house rentals in Bradenton Beach and everywhere else on Anna Maria Island. Call Island Real Estate today 877-778-6066 and book your island getaway!

Anna Maria Island St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Anna Maria Island holds some great holiday parades and St. Patrick’s day is no exception to the rule.  The parade

St. Patrick's Day Parade
St. Patrick’s Day Parade

typically starts in the late afternoon and of course it is in the month of March.  The starting point for the past few years has been the outdoor plaza in Holmes Beach, Fl.  The very same plaza that houses the Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce as well as the Wells Fargo bank on the corner of Gulf Drive and Marina Drive.  The St. Patrick’s day parade travels up Marina Drive past Island Real Estate all the way up to 85th street where it takes a jog to the East where the parade ends.

Each consecutive year the Holmes Beach based Irish parade has become larger and larger.  The Beach Bistro initiated the St. Patrick’s parade just a few years ago and has quickly become a very high participation parade.  Island Real Estate continues to participate in the parade and if you have never had the opportunity to drive down a street with wall to wall pedestrians waving, smiling and wishing you a happy holiday you need to give it a whirl.  It’s simply fantastic.

Anna Maria Island Irish Parade
Anna Maria Island Irish Parade

In 2008 the Beach Bistro sponsored an Irish elephant, 2009 it was a Camel and 2010 it was an elephant AND a camel.  You will have to come visit Anna Maria Island in 2011 to see what is next.  Candy, treats, beads and lots of other items are thrown by the parade goers.

So where is the best place to stand?  Island Real Estate at 6101 Marina Drive is a great spot.  Another great spot is at the Gloria Del Lutheran Church on the corner of Marina Drive and Palm Drive.  There is plenty of parking at the church which makes it a great place to stay if you are not staying a walk away from the parade route.  Lastly, these spots are towards the beginning of the parade route so everyone should still have plenty of treats to be throwing to the crowd.

If you are looking for a vacation rental close to the parade route then I would suggest the second, third, or fourth block of Holmes Beach between 60th and 85th street.   Be sure to checkout some of the nearby Island Real Estate’s vacation rentals that should work well for a quick walk to the parade route if visiting during the St. Patrick’s day parade.
