Holmes Beach – Spring Fest is back in it’s 28th year celebrating arts, crafts, food, music and fun. This year Spring Fest will be held April 9th and 10th from 10am-5pm Saturday and Sunday at the Holmes Beach City Hall field at 5901 Marina Drive. Parking and admission are free for this family friendly event!
Sponsored by the Anna Maria Island Art League, this juried art event showcases over 100 fine artists from across the country showing off their talent. Proceeds raised from Spring Fest and Winter Fest events go to support the Anna Maria Island Art League Art Center, children and adult art classes, and the Art League Scholarship Fund.
Gala Art Raffle
When you attend this event be sure to join in on the fun Gala Art Raffle to help support the Art League while collecting fabulous art donated by these wonderful artists. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Winners do not need to be present to collect raffled art work.

Artists awards include $1000 prize for Best of Show, four Awards of Distinction for $250 and five Awards of Merit for $100 are up for grabs. Deadlines for Artist entries have already passed.

Light up the night! Get ready for Santa Claus and even some snow! On Friday, December 6, 2013 from 5pm-8pm bring your friends and family for free holiday fun to the annual AMI Chamber Tree Lighting and Holmes Beach Walk-About. The annual Lighting of the Tree will take place at the beginning of the open house – just around sunset – in front of the Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce, 5313 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach. Santa will arrive at The Feast at 5:30pm with treats for the kids.
Even the Privateers will be spreading holiday cheer! The friendly downtown businesses will have in-store specials, there will be sample wines, appetizers, music and a raffle prize drawing for 3 big packages of gift items organized by the Islander newspaper. Pine Avenue was packed from 11am- 6pm for the 3rd annual Food and Wine on Pine. The atmosphere could not have been better perfect weather, booths with delicious food, and some great wine tastings. At the Island Real Estate office we had a show stopper with our new TAMI Turtle photo op. Young and old had a good laugh and a chance to send a digital postcard of their day on beautiful Anna Maria Island. Not sure how next year’s event could top this years but the Chiles Group/Sandbar Restaurant will once again pull out all the stops to make it a special event in 2014.
Update: this event continues and 2015 provided for a fabulous Food and Wine event.
Downtown Bradenton will be hosting Hernando De Soto Historical Society’s Seafood Fest starts this Friday April 5th and continues through the weekend! On April 5th the festival gets kicked off at 5:00pm and lasts until 10:00pm, April 6th from 11:00am to 7:00pm April 7th from 12:00pm to 10:00pm. The family friendly atmosphere is fun for all ages with a special kids area available for free. Live music will be playing for the entire festival on two different stages with Uncle Kracker headlining! Each year the music venues change. Holmes Beach Music in the Park will be held at Holmes Beach City Hall Field on Anna Maria Island. On Friday, March 29th at 5pm music will fill the park accompanied by sounds of laughter and the delicious scents of food. The concert will goes on until 10pm and offers free parking, free admission, and a child/pet friendly atmosphere. There will be food, beer, wine, margaritas, and rum runners all available from various vendors that will be present. Music in the Park benefits the Anna Maria Island Concert Chorus and Orchestra.

Anna Maria Island Annual Jazz Fest is in its 12th year and going strong. The festival typically takes place February each year. It is best to visit the Anna Maria Island Jazz Festival Facebook page for up to date information.
The Anna Maria Island Annual Jazz Fest is heavily inspired by swing music intermingling bossa nova music styles as well. More for listeners than dancers, the concert is overflowing with talent-from computer synthesized tracks to musicians wielding 2 saxophones at once. Attendance looks promising with an expectancy of over 100 guests. Make sure to get your tickets – only $10 at the door or $8 if bought in advance. The jazz extravaganza will be taking place from 3-5pm.
Every Sunday night on Siesta Beach during sunset both professional and amateur drum players get together and bring in the night to a beat. Dancers, tumblers, and jugglers move to the beat of the drum as darkness falls onto the beach. The Drum Circle is definitely something to experience.
Every Monday the Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota has free admission to their art museum. An original cast of the Statue of David by Michelangelo is on display in the courtyard of the museum. If you enjoyed the Art Museum you can also check out the Circus Museum and the Ca’ d’Zan Mansion for a fee.
The Anna Maria Island Community Center numerous adult programs are being kicked up in high gear for the arrival of the northern visitors to the island. The Community Center offers many great classes at a reasonable price. Discounts for classes are available for members of the center. The Adult Programs are an excellent way to experience new things, make new friends, and spend time with old friends!
The Manatee County Central Library holds Music Monday weekly. The half hour reading program runs from 6:30pm until 7:30pm and is designed to help children that are just learning how to read. Music Monday is a free program that uses music and movement to promote the connection between spoken and written word. Seating is available on a first come, first serve basis.
