Get ready for the Anna Maria Island WINTERFEST – the annual Fine Arts and Craft show held in the Holmes Beach City Hall Field this Saturday and Sunday December 8th and 9th from 10-4:30 each day. Parking and admission are free, leashed pets welcome. Perfect place to pick up local art for holiday gifts!
This year’s Winterfest had over 100 artists, southern style comfort food, live Cajun and Blue Grass music. Saturday was a beautiful sunny day with a bit of winter chill in the air, we showed up at about 11:00 A.M. and were graciously greeted by the volunteers who were selling tickets, water, and soda at the entrance. Winterfest was underway, the band was playing, and people were browsing the art exhibits.
This year’s Winterfest had an amazing showcase of jewelry, pottery, paintings, photography, and sculptures. But my favorite was the Wildlife, Inc Rescue and Rehabilitation Center. They had the most beautiful hawks and owls on display in their booth. I actually had to take a closer look to realize that they were alive.
This Friday we will kick off the 4th annual Anna Maria Island ArtsHop with an island wide gallery walk. Start at any participating gallery to pick up an ArtsHOP “passport” which maps out the ArtsHOP galleries on Anna Maria Island. At 8p.m. Friday and again on Saturday the Island Players will present an evening of One Act Plays for your enjoyment. You don’t want to miss these plays and local acting skills, tickets are only $15.00 and they will be serving coffee and gourmet pastries during intermission.
On Saturday there will be an Arts & Crafts sale at the City Hall field in Holmes Beach, a book singing at the Anna Maria Island historical Society, the Calling All Turtles Art Event in the City Of Anna Maria, and An Evening Of One Act Plays at 8p.m. presented by the Island Players.
On Sunday the Arts & Crafts sale will continue in Holmes Beach, there will be a concert featuring Broadway show tune selections from Rodgers and Hammerstein, and Irving Berlin at the CrossPointe Church in the City Of Anna Maria. The tickets are open seating and cost $20.00. End the weekend with the sunset and drum circle at 4:30 on Manatee County Beach.
