A turtle walker in Walton County. We now have 72 confirmed nests and many false crawls. A couple of Kemp’s, a couple of leatherbacks and the rest as far as I know Loggerheads. We’ve had a couple wash away ( we think) because we couldn’t find the eggs to re-locate them. I love Sarasota and have been coming there for 42 yrs. on vacation and always come to Mote.
That is excellent news Phil! Its always good to hear that the turtles are successfully nesting! As an Anna Maria Island native some of my fondest memories involved someone running down the beach yelling that there was a turtle nest hatching, then gathering around and watching them make that first crawl down to the water. I’ve never seen a wild leatherback.. have always wanted to.
Thanks for the comment and we hope to see you next year
