Great view of Tampa Bay and the Sunshine Bridge is only the beginning at this wonderful local seafood restaurant on Anna Maria Island. The food choices at the Waterfront are fantastic. From wonderful fresh soups and salads to gourmet meals, salmon and steak. The Waterfront located in Anna Maria City also offers vegetarian choices as well that are made fresh and homemade right at the restaurant. Waterfront of Anna Maria Island is famous for their delicious fish taco appetizer and outdoor seating taking advantage of the wonderful bay views. The giant fish tank that separates the main dining room from the bar area is beautiful and adds charm to the dining experience.
The Waterfront restaurant also offers a wonderful selection of beers and wine from all over the world. UPDATE: The Waterfront now serves liquor and phenomenal cocktails. If you are in the mood for something new, ask one of the friendly bartenders for some suggestions. My wife loves the Jalapeno Margarita.
The wait staff of the waterfront in Anna Maria city is always inviting and prompt with their service. If you are in the mood for great service, great views of the bay, excellent food, this is the place for you to come as a family or as a couple. One last note, try the lobster bisque, trust us, you wont be sorry. It melts in your mouth.
Pine Avenue was packed from 11am- 6pm for the 3rd annual Food and Wine on Pine. The atmosphere could not have been better perfect weather, booths with delicious food, and some great wine tastings. At the Island Real Estate office we had a show stopper with our new TAMI Turtle photo op. Young and old had a good laugh and a chance to send a digital postcard of their day on beautiful Anna Maria Island. Not sure how next year’s event could top this years but the Chiles Group/Sandbar Restaurant will once again pull out all the stops to make it a special event in 2014.
Update: this event continues and 2015 provided for a fabulous Food and Wine event.
Anna Maria Island is known for it’s beaches but we are slowly showing island visitors that we have lots to offer in the way of eco-tourism. One such visit would be the Anna Maria WineryRosa Fiorelli Vineyard and Winery located about half an hour from Anna Maria Island just in Bradenton, Fl.
Rosa Fiorelli Winery is located in Eastern Manatee County and is family owned and operated. The winery and vineyard have impromptu tours most of the year and as of this writing is open 10 Am through 5:30 PM Monday through Saturday and Sundays Noon – 5 PM EST. Sorry they are closed on Tuesdays each week.
When you take a tour of the vineyard it takes about half an hour to 45 minutes and the walk is fairly light and would guess the walk in total is a few football fields. The winery suggests calling ahead to be sure they are having tours and sneakers are fine to wear. I would not suggest going on a rainy day.
At the end of the vineyard eco tour you walk into the small shop where the guide takes you through about 6-10 wines so you can find the wines you love. The Rosa Fiorelli winery has produced over 100 award winning wines.
The winery is fairly easy to get to. Just take State route 64 otherwise known as Manatee Avenue, East until you get to County Road 675 where you take that South and look for the winery at 4250 County Road 675.
This Saturday and Sunday from 12pm – 4pm all ages are welcome to attend the Wine & Food Festival at Rosa Fiorelli Winery & Vineyard. Tickets are currently on sale for $20.00 per adult, 21 and under get in free. Your ticket price includes: four free wine samples, and a commemorative wine glass. You can purchase your tickets online at fiorelliwinery.com.
Rosa Fiorelli Winery, Inc. is a family-owned and operated business located just south of Lake Manatee in eastern Manatee County. Rosa and her husband Antonio moved to the area from Casteldaccia, Sicily, and were struck by the similarities here to their native land. Soon there were five rows of bunch grapes in the backyard with the garden, and a corner of the garage closed off for making wine.
The vines were only the beginning! As more grapes became available, Rosa and Antonio expanded their winemaking activities. Today the Winery has its own building for fermenting and bottling, and a separate building for tasting, and sales, and offers tours.
