Catch the game at Drift Inn at 120 Bridge Street in Bradenton Beach. While not mandatory, football fans can bring a covered dish to share and keep your belly full as you enjoy adult libations.

Freckled Fin Restaurant and Public House

Seats will fill up fast so show up early for pregame festivities at the Freckled Fin. The game will showing inside, and on a 10 foot big screen on the patio. Watch the sunset while you enjoy the game! Freckled Fin is at the corner of Gulf Drive and Bridge Street in Bradenton Beach.

The Ugly Grouper

Enjoy great special while you watch the game at The Ugly Grouper at 5704 Marina Drive in Holmes Beach. From 5-10pm there will be beer buckets $12.50 domestic and $16 import. On the menu find $10 pulled pork sliders, $8 Wing baskets and $5 chips and salsa. Enjoy live music with Tim Connolly from 1-5pm and Chris Warner from 6-9pm. All this while football is playing on 10 big screens.

Harry’s Grill and Bistro

Anna Maria Island National Sangria Day

There are many options for celebrating National Sangria Day on Anna Maria Island! While you can find it on the menu at several island eateries, also make it at home!

National Sangria Day

While red is traditional, white and even sweet pink wines make Sangria. There are endless recipe variations for more adventurous wine lovers.

The basic components of Sangria include a wine, liquor, fruit juice, spice and sugar. You can really let your imagination run wild with different combinations.

Traditional Red

1 Bottle Dry Red Wine
1/3 cup Brandy or Cherry Brandy. Add more for extra kick.
3-4 Tablespoons Sugar. Substitute with Brown Sugar or even Honey.
3/4 Cup Orange Juice. Experiment with other juices such as Grapefruit.
1 Orange Sliced. Experiment with other sliced citrus such as Lemons, Limes or Seasonal Blood Oranges.
1/2 Green Apple Cubed. (Set some Fruit to the side for garnishing glasses)
Cinnamon garnish optional.
Soda Water optional for a more punch like drink.

Directions:

In a pitcher or bowl combine 1/2 of the sliced oranges and sugar. Gently muddle them together.
Add in the wine, brandy and orange juice. Gently stir.
Add lots of ice.
Top with remaining orange slices and apples.

Select a large wine glass or tall tumbler. Fill with ice and poor Sangria in. Garnish with additional fruit, a splash of club soda and a sprinkle of Cinnamon.

Located on the island, The Ugly Grouper is right across the street from our Marina Drive office. They serve delicious food such as grouper sandwiches and mahi fish tacos along with meals for people who don’t care as much for seafood.  Also, all of their fish is fresh off the coast of Anna Maria, so you’re sure to get fresh fish. The Ugly Grouper has a history here on Anna Maria Island, as it was previously The Barefoot Tiki Bar and even before that a gas station! Take a look at the menu here.

2. Derek’s

Found on Manatee Avenue, Derek’s is prided on its ever-changing menu and good food. They serve wild pink shrimp pasta, blackened salmon and much more. Whether you want to have a causal luncheon or a fancy dinner, Derek’s is the perfect place to go. They do accept reservations and are open from 5am-10pm Monday-Saturday.

3. Mar Vista

Mar Vista resides in Longboat Key and is casual place to get great seafood. Some of their best dishes are a Grouper sandwich and Scallops Mar Vista. Another cool aspect of Mar Vista is its history on Longboat Key. It was one of the first structures built by Rufus Jordan in 1912 and has withstood hurricanes and erosion. Still in the original building, Mar Vista is an extremely interesting place to visit that has tasty food!

4. Starfish Company Market

If you’re wanting to cook your own or buy already cooked seafood Starfish Company is the perfect place to go. Located off Cortez, they sell locally caught seafood such as fish, scallops, and shrimp. Starfish Co. was started in the 1920’s and sits on one of the few remaining working waterfronts. With an absolutely gorgeous view, Starfish Co. is a must visit when vacationing here on Anna Maria.
