Light up the night! Get ready for Santa Claus and even some snow! On Friday, December 6, 2013 from 5pm-8pm bring your friends and family for free holiday fun to the annual AMI Chamber Tree Lighting and Holmes Beach Walk-About. The annual Lighting of the Tree will take place at the beginning of the open house – just around sunset – in front of the Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce, 5313 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach. Santa will arrive at The Feast at 5:30pm with treats for the kids.
Even the Privateers will be spreading holiday cheer! The friendly downtown businesses will have in-store specials, there will be sample wines, appetizers, music and a raffle prize drawing for 3 big packages of gift items organized by the Islander newspaper. This is a great time to socialize with your island friends and neighbors! For further information please contact the Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce at 941-778-1541.
We invite you to warm your holiday spirits! On Tuesday, December 10th from 10:30am-12:30pm, the Sandbar Restaurant will host their 20th annual Lawton Chiles Christmas for Kids Party!
Let’s share in the true meaning of the season and bring holiday joy to the children who are little less fortunate than most. For those interested in contributing to this wonderful cause, cash donations are being accepted. This year, they are planning for at least 120 children from the Head Start program, Healthy Families Manatee and the Children’s Academy. The children will receive a pair of shoes, an outfit of clothing, an age appropriate toy and the family of the child will receive a complete turkey dinner. Each of these children and their families can celebrate with Christmas spirit!
The 2013 Kids Christmas Party will be located at the Sandbar Restaurant in the pavilion. This fun-filled lunchtime party will feature characters in costumes, games and of course, Santa Claus. You are invited to come by to participate in bringing joy to the hearts of these children. The Sandbar is located at 100 Spring Ave, and their mailing address for contributions is P.O. Box 1478, Anna Maria, FL, 34216.
WHAT: Prepare your floats! Ready your lawn chairs! Candy and beads everywhere! Merry Christmas to Anna Maria Island, it’s the annual Christmas Parade!
Watch out for that ship…. follow the Anna Maria Island Privateers to SANTA!
On Saturday, December 7, 2013, the parade begins at 10am on the east end of Pine Avenue traveling from the staging area at Bayfront Park, through the city of Anna Maria. From there, the parade continues south through Holmes Beach, Bradenton Beach, concluding at Coquina Beach. Upon arrival at Coquina Beach, Santa’s Open House welcomes the children of the island, both visitors and islanders alike. The Jolly Old Man himself will be there to hand out gifts to the children. Kids may also enjoy refreshments of hot dogs and sodas during their visit with Santa Claus.
Whether watching from the side of the road or riding in a float, the Anna Maria Island Christmas Parade is a favorite island tradition. This island event is interactive, so kids remember to bring a bag and gather your loot!
Enjoy the merriment of Christmas on Pine Avenue as you stroll down Pine Avenue in the City of Anna Maria looking for last minute gifts and listening to Christmas Carols. On Friday December 14th the pine avenue shops will have extended hours in honor of the Annual Holiday Walk on Pine Avenue from 5pm – 8pm. Most of the Pine Avenue merchants will be providing snacks and drinks at their location and I heard a little rumor that Santa will be stopping by so bring the kids too!
While this is a post from 2012 the Christmas continues to be a tradition in Anna Maria City. Normally the walk about takes place on the second Friday of December. For example in 2015 the walk about was 12/11/2015. Normally you can find more information on the Island Real Estate Facebook page or read the Anna Maria Sun who normally sponsors the Christmas on Pine Avenue walk about.
Have a safe and Happy Holiday Season from all of us at Island Real Estate!
Friday we kicked off the first of the December Holiday events here on Anna Maria Island. It all started with the Holmes Beach Parade and the lighting of the Christmas tree at the Holmes Beach Chamber of Commerce. The parade was chock full of characters, we saw pirates, reindeer, and even Santa showed up for the Holiday fun. The Holmes Beach Chamber of Commerce lit their beautifully decorated Christmas tree just before the parade ended.
After the tree was lit, Santa showed up across the street in the Holmes Beach Plaza where the Holmes Beach merchants hosted an open house. Soon after Santa Claus arrived it stated snowing, (fake snow that is) but it was really cool and everyone was in the Holiday Spirit. As the snow fell and the music played the children got a chance to meet Santa Claus and give him this year’s wish list, we all had a great time.
