Giving Books for Kids this Holiday Season
We believe that giving back to our community is an important aspect of being a local industry leader. While we facilitate vacationers donating non-perishables to Roser Food Pantry year round, we wanted to do something special for the holiday.
This year we’re collecting new children’s and young adult books to be given to Manatee Adopt a Family. They are based out of Ellenton, Florida.
While Island Real Estate Owner Larry Chatt has already committed to purchase new books, we are still looking for more support! You can help us by giving new books of your choice, or with donating money to this great cause. Here’s what Island Real Estate Owner Larry Chatt has to say.
“I think the Island Real Estate children’s book initiative for the holidays is a fabulous idea. Reading provides basic development for all children and Manatee Adopt a Family is a wonderful cause. My wife Jennifer adoringly recalls her favorite book, “Tikki Tikki Tembo” by Mosel. We still have the book. Although a bit battered, each time she brings it out to read to our children I can see it floods her with fond memories. My hope and inspiration would be to have one of our donated books become a child’s favorite and better yet, be the cause towards a child’s development.
Carol Bernard the Island Real Estate Revenue Manager is leading the Team on our giving initiative. Here’s what she has to say.
“Gifting kids and young adults books gives them access to a world of information and discovery in a way nothing else can.”
During this holiday open your heart to giving. Stop by our office at 6101 Marina Drive, give us a call at 877-778-6066 or email us at MyVacation@IslandReal.com. Any little bit can make a difference to local children.
‘Tis the season for the Anna Maria Island Concert Chorus and Orchestra (AMICCO) to be holding their annual holiday concert. The CrossPointe Fellowship will be hosting the holiday concert on Sunday, December 16th at 2pm. AMICCO’s performance will include a holiday song sing-along and musical arrangements from Handel and Tchaikovsky. Vocalists that will be featured include Joy Leitner, Megan Schmidt, Marth diPalma, David Kessler, and Jinho Park.
Tomorrow is New Year’s Eve and it’s time to go out and celebrate. It has been a time honored tradition to ring in the New Year with a bang, whether you would like to have dinner with family and friends or party the night away at your favorite Anna Maria Island Restaurant. It might be a good idea to make reservations and insure your New Year’s plans are all set up. Take a look at the list of Anna Maria Island and surrounding area restaurants that will be open New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day…
Happy Holidays to all of you, from all of us at Island Real Estate. Yesterday we received a letter from Santa Claus. The letter contained this picture, and list of his favorite restaurants in the area, that will be open for Christmas. We also want you to know that Publix Super Market in Holmes Beach will be open from 7:30AM – 7:00PM on Christmas Eve and Closed on Christmas Day.
Friday we kicked off the first of the December Holiday events here on Anna Maria Island. It all started with the Holmes Beach Parade and the lighting of the Christmas tree at the Holmes Beach Chamber of Commerce. The parade was chock full of characters, we saw pirates, reindeer, and even Santa showed up for the Holiday fun. The Holmes Beach Chamber of Commerce lit their beautifully decorated Christmas tree just before the parade ended.
After the tree was lit, Santa showed up across the street in the Holmes Beach Plaza where the Holmes Beach merchants hosted an open house. Soon after Santa Claus arrived it stated snowing, (fake snow that is) but it was really cool and everyone was in the Holiday Spirit. As the snow fell and the music played the children got a chance to meet Santa Claus and give him this year’s wish list, we all had a great time.
