One of the island’s newest eateries, SmoqeHouse, offers BBQ fusion for those who love meaty sandwiches. While not your traditional BBQ joint, here you’ll find something both gourmet and filling. Just about every menu item has a smoked component. From the meats and cheeses to fruits and veggies, find an unusual selection of in-house smoked delights.

2 Feed Flamingos at Sarasota Jungle Gardens

If you’ve never made it to Sarasota Jungle Gardens this is the year to finally do it. This lovely facility isn’t too big making it the perfect morning or afternoon off-island activity. They offer a great selection of wildlife and peaceful garden trails. When you visit you simply must spend the extra $3 to feed the Flamingos. Grab a bag of Flamingo food at the front entrance. These gorgeous birds are very friendly, and will gently eat right from your hand. An experience of a lifetime!

3 Egmont Key Adventures and Scott’s Deli Picnic

When visiting the island there is nothing more quintessential then chartering a boat tour. Egmont Key Adventures offers the perfect charter for any group. From fishing to sunset cruises, these tours are great for a day of snorkeling and exploring Egmont Key.

Island Charms is an adorable shop on Pine Avenue in the city of Anna Maria. Here you’ll find a great selection of jewelry for any style. This is also a really great spot for finding souvenirs with so many great gift options. Purses, art work, pottery, home accessories and more. You’ll love Island Charms!

5 Get a Brew at Darwin’s

Darwin’s Brewery might be one of the most popular spots in Bradenton for a great local made beer. In the downtown area, this is a fun hangout for locals and visitors alike where you’ll find food trucks, trivia and live entertainment. You’ll also be close to McKechnie Field making this a great pre-game destination for beers with friends.

6 Eat Mullet from Cortez Fishing Village

If you’re from Manatee County, you undoubtedly have an appreciation for Mullet. A huge seafood staple of the Cortez Fishing Village, this fish is something you have to try when visiting the area. Smoked and served with a side of mustard sauce is a very typical preparation enjoyed by the locals, but you’ll also find it fried or blackened too.

7 Take the Ferry to Sarasota 

For years now there’s been local chatter about Ferry services and water taxis connecting Anna Maria Island with Sarasota. 8 Hike Grassy Point Preserve

Few visitors ever make it to Grassy Point Preserve, making it somewhat of a hidden gem. This 34 acre plot of undeveloped Mangrove Coastline is just stunning. Find it tucked back into the northern end of Avenue C in Holmes Beach. This Preserve has boardwalk and shell paths providing a peaceful spot to stroll through nature.

9 Visit the Floating Jungle Gym

The floating gym is a new attraction just off the south end of Anna Maria Island. Something truly unique, this is a great family fun adventure. While only accessible by boat, the floating gym is worth it! Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 6pm you’ll see this half gym half boat structure parked Between Beer Can Island and Jew fish Key in Sarasota Bay. Welcoming folks of any age, enjoy climbing and jumping on the water for $15/person. If you need to rent a boat to get to the gym check out BluWave boat rentals.

This was the first of local breweries to call Bradenton home. This 27,000 square foot brewery was built in 1923 as an automobile dealership. Out of this unique history came the name Motorworks.

Not only do they make beer for retail and wholesale, but they have a great tap room and a huge beer garden. Find a large selection of house made and other craft beers, full liquor and expansive wine collection.

If you get hungry while enjoying a cold one there is a food truck! Motorworks partners with several different local food trucks that are parked from 11:00am to 8:30pm, or later, daily.

Motorworks attracts some of the area’s most popular music acts and regularly has fun events too!

This is another great spot not too far from Motorworks in the downtown area. They offer four year round beers plus seasonal selections from their 15 barrel production facility.

Darwin Brewery started in Sarasota Brewpub then moved down to Bradenton. At the original location, Brew Master Jorge Rosabal began crafting brews to pair with menu items.

The goal of the brewery is to create unique local brews to reflect the flavors and spices of Andean, Amazonian regions along with Florida too.

They have 14 taps, tap room and a beer garden. Visit their Facebook page to stay up to date on their events and entertainment line-up!

Enjoy small batch beers and family friendly eatery too. These brews are exclusive to the brew-pub making it a really unique spot. This “nano-brewery” has a four barrel brew system with an emphasis on experimenting with local flavors.

Modeled after the European and West coast style breweries, 3 Keys is a community gathering place. The philospophy is that beer should be for everyone, so a large variety of beer is offered for any palate.

The menu is delicious and simple too. Find bugers, tacos, pizza and the traditional pub-grub.

Everyday there is something happening from happy hour specials to games and entertainment. While visiting Bradenton, this is a must stop spot!

This spot is closer to Lakewood Ranch than downtown Bradenton, but don’t let that detour you from a visit! This 8,600 square foot taproom and brewery is pumping out the finest beers east Manatee county has to offer!

Inspired by a trip to Belgium, this brewery offers a unique set of traditional and non-traditional brews. Brew Master “Freaky Fritz” is always coming up with something new.

Naughty Monk Brewery doesn’t serve food, however, you are more than welcome to bring your own!

This is a great spot! Enjoy pool tables, darts, corn hole and many games during your visit.

Downtown Bradenton Old Main Street

If you want to shop, dine, and unwind then Old Main Street is the perfect spot. This is truly the heart of Bradenton. Here you’ll find boutiques, tons of bars and  restaurants too. Old Main Street offers quaint old architecture reminiscent of a small southern town, and fewer modern structures. It’s really a pleasant place to relax while taking in the scenes and window shopping.

Wander down the street to the Riverfront and you’ll find the Pier and Twin Dolphin Marina. The pier not only offers great views of the Manatee River, but also has a very nice restaurant called Pier 22.

If you are looking for a night spot this is the best place for a bar crawl. You’ll find many different bars, pubs and lounges all along Old Main Street. Each bar is unique and draws a different crowd. Just be sure to drink responsibly!

Mckechnie Field

While visiting Anna Maria Island in the Spring, you can catch the Pittsburg Pirates Spring training games at Mckechnie Field. Check out their schedule to see all the different activities happening at this amazing facility.

Village of the Arts

The Village of the Arts is a commercial-residential community on the southern side of the downtown area. Here you’ll find art galleries, specialty shops and restaurants. The first Friday of each month the Village holds an artwalk, however, some of the shops are open Tuesday-Saturday weekly.

Manatee Performing Arts Center

The Manatee Performing Arts Center has a long history of producing plays and entertaining Bradentonians since the late 1940’s. First started by the Bradenton Junior Women’s Club, the troupe became known as the Manatee Players. Now with a new large facility and location the thespian tradition continues. Red Barn Flea Market

The Red Barn Flea Market is a Bradenton tradition. Here you’ll find the areas best Flea Market with produce, restaurants, and a unique assortment of vendors. Open Tuesday through Sunday.

South Florida Museum

The South Florida Museum offers a great look at prehistoric Florida. From Dinosaurs to early native inhabitants, this museum is an impressive facility.
