Keep the reason for the season in mind and join us for the Roser Memorial Community Church Bethlehem Walk. This year the celebration is on December 14th beginning at 6:30pm at 512 Pine Ave, Anna Maria. Imagine dozens of islanders and visitors alike dressed in garb draw a crowd with their live llamas, sheep, goats and even a donkey!
The walk consists of a journey to Bethlehem (a block in Anna Maria) with Mary, Joseph, and the animals in search of shelter. Traveling from “inn” to “inn” participants will sing Christmas carols. At the end of the journey, baby Jesus is in the manger and participants will hear Scripture readings followed by hot chocolate and cookies in Fellowship Hall.
If you don’t have your own period-garb, costumes are available in the Fellowship Hall to borrow on a first-come, first-serve basis, or create even your own to make an even merrier night. We suggest you bring a flashlight for yourself. Don’t miss this annual reenactment and narration of the first Christmas, it’s a special way to release the stress of the “material” Christmas we so diligently prepare for.

Halloween is a fun time of year where we get to play pretend and live out our imaginations. If you’re imagination is full of thoughts of the beach, here are our five favorite beach-inspired Halloween costumes:
5. THE HULA GIRL
Luaus and hulas might be a Hawaiian tradition, but we have to respect the beautiful tradition and overall appeal of the hula girl.
No humanistic character has a closer relationship to the sea than the mermaid. We can’t help but be jealous of life spent in the ocean and love to see the little mermaids who stop by the Island Real Estate office to trick or treat.
These are some of our heroes. Lifeguards and other first responders who protect our beaches and keep our loved ones safe are near and dear to our hearts, so grab shorts and tank tops and represent for the lifeguards this Halloween.
2. SHARK BABY
Not everyone can pull this one off. But if you have the chubby cheeks for it, you can’t go wrong with a shark baby disguise. It’s both ferocious and irresistible at the same time.
No. 1 TAMI SEA TURTLE
Tami the sea turtle is our Island Real Estate mascot and our favorite Halloween costume concept. Just imagine all of the extra candy you can store in that shell!!
Alight dog lovers it’s time to dress up your 4 legged friends and get them signed up for the 10th Annual Canine Costume Contest on Anna Maria Island hosted by the Anna Maria Island Sun Newspaper.
