There are several great Anna Maria Island Holiday Events this year! Throughout December there will be celebrations across the island’s three cities.

Get into the spirit of the holiday with these fun family events.

Holmes Beach Holiday Open House and Tree Lighting

December 2nd will be the Annual Holiday Open House. This event is organized by the Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by local businesses. From 5-8pm walk around the Holmes Beach Shopping District for snacks and libations while local businesses stay open late. These businesses will have specials going on too!

At 6pm watch the annual lighting of the tree in front of the Chamber at 5313 Gulf Drive. Santa and his sleigh will also make an appearance, so everyone better be on their best behavior.

The Chamber will provide lite snacks, coffee and wine. Next door, Eat Here restaurant will be showing the movie “A Miracle on 34th Street” in addition to serving mulled wine.

Bring a toy to donate to Toys for Tots. There will be a donation box at the Chamber of Commerce.

Anna Maria Pine Avenue Holiday Treasure Walk

Celebrate the holiday in Anna Maria on December 9th with the Holiday Treasure Walk. Pine Avenue and Gulf Drive Merchants will be open late from 5-8pm with special sales and tasty treats.

Stop by The Studio at Gulf and Pine for refreshments from the Sandbar Restaurant. Additionally, Roser Church Joyful Noise Children’s Choir will be performing at the Historical Society at 6pm.

There may even be an appearance from Santa too!

Bradenton Beach Christmas on Bridge Street

Christmas on Bridge Street is an annual family friendly event with tons of entertainment and holiday fun. The event will take place December 17 from 4:30-8:30pm.

Enjoy music from Russ Adams Project, The Dickens Carolers, and more!

There will be a kids crafts and cookie bazaar where children will be selling their baked goods and handmade gifts.

In addition to the gift market, you’ll find a wreath raffle, and gift basket silent auction.

You’ll also find a Hot Chocolate Bar, Snow and Santa.

Historic Bridge Street Anna Maria Island

Historic Bridge Street is a quaint strip of restaurants and shops on the south end of Anna Maria Island. Once the site of the first bridge connecting the island to mainland Bradenton, Bridge Street is still a special place. Check out our list of things to know about Bridge Street.

Historic Bridge Street – Bradenton Beach City Pier

At the very end of Bridge Street you’ll find the Bradenton Beach city pier. Here you’ll enjoy views of Sarasota Bay as you walk along the site of the original bridge to the island. After many updates the pier still stands today. Now you can find great fishing, a bait shop and the Anna Maria Oyster Bar restaurant.

You’ll also find great shopping when you visit Bridge Street. You’ll find gifts, local art, jewelry while visiting the strip. There are a variety of places to dine on Bridge Street including casual, high end and breakfast too. Enjoy The Blue Marlin, Island Creperie, and the Bridge Street Bistro to name a few. For the nightlife scene you can visit Bridge Tender Inn, Island Time Bar and Grill, or even the Drift Inn. You’ll find these places open a little later than the average island establishment.

Blues, Brews and BBQ on Bridge Street – Bradenton Beach Event

Bradenton Beach Event – Back for it’s second year Blues, Brews and BBQ will be serving up a great event May 21st on Bridge Street. From 3-9pm the event will offer great music, cold beer and delicious barbecue with proceeds to benefit the All Island Denomination’s Food Pantry at Roser Church. Admission is $5 with children under 12 free. The gates opening at 2pm for those looking to find the perfect spot to enjoy the music.

Blues, Brews and BBQ is hosted by the Bridge Street Merchants and Sponsored by Grayhawk Window Systems and The Bradenton Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Gene “Sarasota Slim” Hardage will headline Blues, Brews and BBQ. An internationally acclaimed guitarist, Sarasota Slim offers a unique sound incorporating blues, funk, boogie and slide guitar. Local favorties Pig Blues will take the stage at 4:30 before Sarasota Slim with the music starting at 3pm with Mac McConnell.

Food

Barbecue ribs and pulled pork platters will be provided by Island Time Bar and Grill with Fire and Stone serving BBQ pizza. Motorworks Brewery will have craft beers, there will also be a full liquor bar along with alcohol free selections. Patrons may bring their own blankets and chairs, but no coolers or outside food will be permitted into the event.

Happenings

Event goers may leave and re-enter the event at anytime to peruse the shops and deals offered on Bridge Street. Take advantage of the silent auction during the event!

Parking for the event can be found along Bridge Street, in the parking lot behind Island Time, at the Tingley Library and along the beach south of the event. The free trolley will be running until 10:30pm the night of the event.

With 15 different deals currently available between now and February, the Merchants passport is a great way to shop local with a purpose. Anna Maria Island – The 8th Annual ArtsHop 2014 celebration is just around the corner on the weekend of November 7th-9th.

Bridge street in Bradenton Beach will be closed on Saturday March 29th from 11am-10pm for Blues, Brews BBQ.

The music lineup includes AJ & the Automatics, Lauren Mitchell Band, RJ Howson & Friends, Kara Nally Band and Kettle of Fish. The BBQ contest is amazing too! From 2-6pm local restaurants will compete to see who can make the best barbecue!

This Weekend on Anna Maria Island – December 13th-15th

This Weekend on Anna Maria Island is a regular section highlighting the various happenings and events going on over the weekend. Check our events calendar for a list of future events.   

 

       • Dec. 13, from 5-8 p.m., Anna Maria businesses host a citywide holiday open house. Participating businesses will stay open extended hours to toast the season and children can visit with Santa Claus.

       • Dec. 14-15, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Anna Maria Island Art League presents Winterfest at city field, 5801 Marina Drive, Holmes Beach. The event provides an opportunity for art-enthusiasts to do some holiday shopping and for artists — from near and afar — to show off their work in a juried festival.
     
       • Dec. 14, from 3-7 p.m., the Bridge Street Merchants hosts the annual Christmas on Bridge Street celebration, featuring visits with representatives from the North Pole, raffles, a children’s gift bazaar, carols and holiday specials in the stores and restaurants. 

 

       • Dec. 14, 5:45 p.m., Kicking off on the north end of Longboat Key near Mar Vista, the Cortez Yacht Clubs 10th annual lighted holiday parade will troll up towards the Seafood Shack Marina for judging. 
    
       • Dec. 14, 6:30 p.m., Roser Memorial Community Church, 512 Pine Ave., Anna Maria, hosts the Bethlehem Walk, which does not feature Santa, but does feature a certain newborn.
  
       • Dec. 15, 2 p.m., the Anna Maria Island Concert Chorus and Orchestra performs the Island Holidays concert at CrossPointe Fellowship, 8605 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach.

Don’t miss Christmas on Bridge Street hosted by the Bridge Street Merchants Saturday December 15th 2012 from 10am – 7pm.  Check out the special Christmas sales at the shops from 10am – 3pm, kids craft making from 3pm – 7pm, of course Santa will be there, and don’t forget to get on the raffles for your chance to win gift and wreath baskets.  In addition there will be a Special Holiday Adoption Event collecting food for people and pets.  The Special Holiday Adoption Event will benefit Island Food Pantry, Manatee County Food Bank, and Manatee County Animal Services.
