Neon Neurons at Artspace Anna Maria Studio Gallery in March

Check out this one time event at Artspace Anna Maria! Artspace Studio & Gallery located at the end of Pine Avenue on northern Anna Maria Island, invites the public to an artist’s reception Saturday, March 22nd, 6-8 PM. This event is also free to attend!

Neon Neurons at Artspace Anna Maria

The  new exhibit, “Neon Neurons features  the work of  Dr. Juan Sanchez-Ramos. Also known as ‘Zeno’, Sanchez-Ramos started his early career as a wandering portrait artist and designer, but evolved over the years to become a  neuroscientist-physician.  He is also the Medical Director for the Parkinson Research Foundation and Professor of Neurology at USF – Tampa.

Neon Neurons at Artspace Studio & Gallery on Anna Maria Island Zeno uses images from research in Neurobiology to inspire new designs and art works. Neon Neurons  was inspired by photomicrographs of neurons in his lab.  Intrigued by the fractal nature of neurons, he began to draw simple neurons using a 3D drawing program. The images show the structure of developing neurons from their stem cell origins to their beautiful fractal branching structures.

Zeno will give a short talk about his research and design processes during the reception.  Join artists, friends and neighbors for champagne, snacks, community painting, and live music.  And, enjoy another Artspace Community Challenge!  Be sure to cast your vote for the  People’s Choice Award for the Artspace Challenge.  Wear something neon too!
