Halloween's Top 5 Beach Costumes

Halloween is a fun time of year where we get to play pretend and live out our imaginations.  If you’re imagination is full of thoughts of the beach, here are our five favorite beach-inspired Halloween costumes:

5.  THE HULA GIRLhula girl

Luaus and hulas might be a Hawaiian tradition, but we have to respect the beautiful tradition and overall appeal of the hula girl.

4. MERMAID/MERMAN

No humanistic character has a closer relationship to the sea than the mermaid.  We can’t help but be jealous of life spent in the ocean and love to see the little mermaids who stop by the Island Real Estate office to trick or treat.

lifeguard costuem3. LIFEGUARD

These are some of our heroes.  Lifeguards and other first responders who protect our beaches and keep our loved ones safe are near and dear to our hearts, so grab shorts and tank tops and  represent for the lifeguards this Halloween.

Not everyone can pull this one off.  But if you have the chubby cheeks for it, you can’t go wrong with a shark baby disguise.  It’s both ferocious and irresistible at the same time.

TAMI baby costume No. 1 TAMI SEA TURTLE

Tami the sea turtle is our Island Real Estate mascot and our favorite Halloween costume concept.  Just imagine all of the extra candy you can store in that shell!!

Ocean Star Review. . . For Kids!!! :)

Hey kids!  You’ve made your way back to Kids Corner, the #1 island blog written by kids, for kids.  I’m here to talk about one of the best Asian food places on the island, Ocean Star.  Not only does it have awesome food, but the atmosphere is very realistic and entertaining.  Read on if you want to learn more.

Ocean Star is this great sushi and Japanese food restaurant located at the Galati Marina.  It hcontact_oceanstarlogoas the most yummiest sushi and dumplings you’ve ever tasted.  And no matter what you like there’s something on the menu to amuse everyone.

So let’s start with the food.  Honestly, I would have to say that sushi is their specialty.  My favorite has to be the Hawaiian Role-Tuna and Cream Cheese tempura with eel sauce-soooo good!  I mean, the other items I have tried on the menu were fantastic, don’t get me wrong, but I think the thing they spend more time perfecting their sushi than anything else.  But if you’re not exactly the sushi type, Ocean Star has plenty of other options for you.  They make a variety of tempura dishes (fried veggies and fish – finger food that satisfies even people like my brother).  They also serve many different types of rice, dumplings, soups, noodles, and even steak, to satisfy your hunger.  So feel free to eat up and enjoy!

Next, the atmosphere.  As soon as you walk in the door, it’s as if you’ve entered a whole different world.  In short, it’s very different than your everyday mealtime.  You can eat at a table, in a booth, at the bar, or in a canopied-in booth with strips of seating area all around the table.  To add to the realistic Japanese ambiance, the lights are dim and the chefs are constantly preparing food right in front of you, which adds to the awesome mood.

So, to conclude, Ocean Star is a fun, awesome restaurant that serves great food, has a fantabulous atmosphere, and is a great place to eat whether you have a special event or are just looking for a cool place to eat for dinner or lunch.  Well, i gotta go.  See ya l8tr. Byeeeee!!!!!!!!

Anna Maria Island’s 4th of July Celebration 2013

4th of July FireworksIt’s here again, that day where you have to go outside, sit in beach chairs as parade floats pass by, and watch fireworks burst in front of your eyes. With just a few days left until this grand island spectacle, you should be ready to go enjoy yourselves!  Alright, let’s talk about what will go down…

A must see feature to our celebration would, of course, be the Anna Maria Island parade. Every year, the Anna Maria Island Privateers host a parade where businesses will ride in floats, and some in boats, through the island, tossing beads and candy to those who wish to take part, and all you have to do is bring some chairs, some bags to hold your loot, and some red, white and blue – but don’t be late because it all starts at 10 a.m., and trust me when I say you should not miss this!

After the barbecuing and family stuff, around that time where it starts getting dark out, is another attraction you should not miss. We all know the most important part of July Fourth, (celebrating how a bunch of olden day folks made America by standing up to the King of the British Empire) but what I’m talking about is the second most important part – FIREWORKS!  And if you want to see them on the 4th, the best spot to stay would be on the beach by the Sandbar restaurant  in Anna Maria, and if your planing to blow your own stuff up you should know law enforcement will be beefed up that night to ensure we all have a fun and safe time.  If you can’t wait until the Fourth of July for fireworks, don’t worry because the Beach House Restaurant has you covered:

July 3, 2013 Anna Maria Island:
Fireworks on the beach, just after dark (around 9pm)
Beach House Restaurant
200 Gulf Drive N
Bradenton Beach, FL

July 4, 2013: Anna Maria Island:

Want a few Anna Maria Island vacation rental choices a walk away from Sandbar or the Beach house?  The Seashell Cottage at 118 Palmetto is one fabulous choice close to the Sandbar.  Water Colors located at 109 Palm is another fabulous choice.  For a vacation rental close to the Beach House try Bay View Inn.  Best yet, visit our interactive Anna Maria Island Map which shows visually all the locations of our Anna Maria Island Vacation rentals and choose for yourself!
