Outdoor Dining Anna Maria Island is the quintessential way to hang out in beautiful tropical climate! There’s nothing better than when going out to grab a bite to eat or drinks, having the warm island breeze surrounding you. Some of the wonderful restaurants I’ve listed below have beautiful water views of either the crystal clear Gulf or Bay, or an open-air setting directly across the street from the beach.
The fresh air of AMI always makes your food taste that much better and your drinks that much tastier, bringing you relaxing vibes that will be sure to lift your spirit. I have suggested different places from smaller and more quant spots, to casual any-time spots, to romantic night spots.
Bradenton Beach – Anna Maria Island is known for having fantastic locally-owned restaurants like Island Time! One of my favorite places to go on the island is Island Time Bar & Grill in Bradenton Beach. This is an open-air restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. You are right across the street from the beach to see the sunset too! While enjoying some of their delicious food, cocktails and live music, you’ll love the atmosphere!
They have live music 5-7 days a week. Have you ever been to a bar or restaurant and the band/singer starts performing and it’s just no good? It’s a bummer because it can potentially kill the good vibe going on. Well, Island Time always has great bands/singers that everyone enjoys! This restaurant is both family oriented and fun for a night out.
Island Time has awesome food. Every time I’ve eaten there, I’ve always liked what I ordered! They have an awesome 7 layer dip for an appetizer along with other great choices. You’ll also find really good sandwiches, lobster bisque, burgers, and much more! Don’t be afraid to try something new – you will love it!
I know when I’ve been at the beach all day I love to walk across the street to Island Time to get an ice cold drink! Island Time’s bar staff is all very nice and attentive. It’s no fun when you have to wait forever to get a drink! The staff is great and they acknowledge you as soon as you get to the bar. Check out some of their drinks specials below!
$2 Margaritas Thursday: $9.95 Fish & Chips
$5 Frozen Drinks Saturday:

Anna Maria is well known for its white sandy beaches and amazing Gulf front dining. But dinner is not the only time to discover one of the island’s culinary gems; breakfast IS the most important meal of the day after all!
It would be impossible to pick “the best” breakfast restaurant on the island, as each has a unique personality. Southern Living touts Ginny’s & Jane E’s at the Old IGA for a special breakfast experience, the fabulous Morning Glory muffin and the funky beach chic boutique. Sink your toes in the sand at the Sandbar during their Sunday jazz brunch. Please don’t miss the Sign of the Mermaid for breakfast either; as their Stuffed French toast is not to be missed. While visiting one of Forbes List of America’s Prettiest Towns, try the Donut Experiment on Historic Pine Avenue. For an international flair, the Island Creperie French Bistro located on Bridge Street in Bradenton Beach serves up a myriad of selections. Also Havana Cabana in Holmes Beach is a great quick breakfast if time is tight!
Local favorites include the home style of Peach’s in Holmes Beach, the “specials board” is always something special! Minnie’s is a great little breakfast and lunch spot. A petite restaurant offering great service, an intimate setting and nice portions…be sure to bring cash, because Minnie’s, as well as several other local favorites are still cash only!
Discover your favorite breakfast spot by exploring the flavorful delights Anna Maria Island has to offer!
Anna Maria Island Gulf Front and Bay Front Dining is a must during your visit. Experience gorgeous sunsets over the gulf or views of the bay while you enjoy fresh Florida seafood or cocktails at one of the many waterfront restaurants.
Anna Maria City Waterfront Dining
The Waterfront Restaurant at the north end of Anna Maria Island overlooks Tampa Bay offering a casual dining atmosphere with fresh seafood, salads, steaks, and pastas. The Waterfront is a great addition to Anna Maria Island Gulf Front and Bay Front dining. Stop in and ask them about their microbrew selection.
Just across the street from the Waterfront Restaurant is the Historic Anna Maria City Pier. The City Pier Restaurant is located at the end of the pier and has a great selection of appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, and of course seafood. The pier is also a great place to go fishing, and enjoy spectacular views of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.
If you look to the west from the City Pier towards the Gulf of Mexico you will see the Rod N Reel Pier. The Rod N Reel pier has a killer breakfast, beautiful views, and also offers lunch and dinner. Fishing from the Rod and Reel pier is a real treat. Another popular restaurant in Anna Maria City is the Sandbar Restaurant located right on the beach. The Sandbar Restaurant is a fantastic restaurant that has an excellent selection of steaks, seafood, and American cuisine. Find The Sandbar on Spring Avenue.

One of Anna Maria Island’s famous restaurants is The Beach Bistro in Holmes Beach. The Beach Bistro is the best fine dining Anna Maria Island Gulf Front and Bay Front Dining option. Just down the beach is the Beachhouse Restaurant offering beachfront dining and fresh Florida seafood, great beaches and great fun.
The Bridge Street Bistro in Bradenton Beach is just across the street from the Gulf of Mexico and offers an open air bar with live music on the first floor. The top floor offers excellent food and amazing Gulf Views. Stroll down Historic Bridge Street toward the bay and stop in the Bridge Tender for a bit to eat. At the end of Bridge Street in Bradenton Beach is Anna Maria Oyster Bar restaurant, a great place to stop in as you are, and enjoy a cocktail, or dinner in a casual, relaxed atmosphere right on the Bay.
The Rod & Reel Pier is a very unique Anna Maria Island destination where you can enjoy a drink in the open air bar, grab breakfast, lunch, or dinner in the restaurant, and go fishing all in the same spot.
The food is always good on the pier, and you have your choice of inside or outside dinning. Inside there are tables that sit along the bay so you can gaze out at the water while you enjoy your clam strips, fish & chips, or grouper just the way you like it. The seats outside face west, perfect for watching Anna Maria Island Sunsets.
Fishing on The Rod & Reel Pier has been good, and they even have a bait shop that is open from 7am-closings (around 9pm) feel free to call the restaurant for bait shop hours. Cast netting is not permitted at the Rod & Reel Pier but they do offer fishing pole rentals, a small selection of hooks, bait, basic tackle, and of course cold draft beer right in the bait shop! The bait shop has both live and frozen bait for your complete Anna Maria Island fishing experience. See you next time at the Rod & Reel Pier!
The Beach House restaurant is located in Bradenton Beach on Anna Maria Island just past the street light after the Cortez Bridge heading south.
Experience great waterfront dining on the Gulf of Mexico with breathtaking views and fresh Florida seafood. It is the perfect place for family dining with plenty of room for all the kids to play on the beach while you sip on a tropical drink and enjoy great food while listening to live entertainment by local artists. You can choose, if you like, to have your meal inside the dining room or on the waterfront deck. There is even a covered Gulf front area, which makes it perfect rain or shine.
Beside the regular lunch and dinner menus, Beach House offers a happy hour menu at the bar including delicious libations and small plates. In addition to fresh local seafood you can find farm fresh produce on the menu. The Grouper sandwich is a popular menu item, but be sure to check out any seasonal offerings like the stuffed squash blossoms from Gamble creek farms.
The Beach House is a wonderful spot to enjoy a gulf sunset after a long day at the beach. If you like to take a look at some spectacular sunset pictures visit our Anna Maria Island blog and get in the mood for a nice dinner at The Beach House.
It is also a great place to have a wedding. The Beach House is an award-winning location for beach weddings, receptions or any special event. Maybe if you are in luck you’ll witness one of the happy couples exchange their vows.
You can even do a little shopping in their gift and souvenir shop located at the entrance area of the restaurant.
The Beach House hours:
Open 7 days a week
11:30am-10:00pm every day during Daylight Savings Time
11:30am-9pm Sun-Thurs, 11:30am-10:00pm Fri and Sat during Standard time.
AMI Beach Cafe is located at Manatee public beach on Anna Maria Island. It is a great inexpensive indoor and outdoor casual restaurant located on Anna Maria, Fl. The Anna Maria Island restaurant has seating outside under roof or under beach umbrella’s just feet from the gorgeous white sand of Anna Maria Island.
Ok everyone, I have a restaurant you all have to try! The Café on the Beach is the place to be on the weekends or any day really. On the weekends you can enjoy the famous “All You Can Eat” pancake breakfast. Friends of mine were there recently and said, “It isn’t just pancakes. You actually get a full breakfast!” During the week they offer delights such as hamburgers, hotdogs and snacks for relaxing days at the Manatee Public Beach in Holmes Beach. This is a great location to enjoy our beaches because you have a lifeguard on duty, a playground, public restrooms, a large public parking lot and a little beach shop for Florida souvenirs. It is also perfect if you have little kids because you unpack the car once, and you have facilities near by to keep them happy. As a new mom I can’t wait until my little one is big enough to enjoy the azure blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico, sugar soft sand of Manatee Beach and the all you can eat pancakes that I remember from my childhood.
Just visited Cafe on the Beach for dinner and their fish and chips were great. Right now they have all you can eat buffet’s Monday, Wednesday’s and Friday’s for dinner. Currently they have an Italian Buffet, Taco and Fajita bar, and all you can eat fish and chips for their three night a week buffets. We sat out outside in November surrounded by patio heaters and Mike Sales singing to the crowd. Mike’s singing made us all get out of our seats to dance to a few oldies but goodies.
For many, the Sandbar restaurant Anna Maria city is a must visit while staying on the island. The atmosphere is wonderful and it’s one of the few restaurants where you can dine outdoors while listening to the surf. The most popular time at the Sandbar is just prior to sunset.
The restaurant offers good food with an outstanding view. Preferred seating is accepted for large groups. About one hour prior to Sunset time you can expect to wait over an hour for a seat outside. There are a few tables outside where you can still put your feet in the sand while most are on the wooden deck covered by an open air cathedral tin roof. Inside seating is 3 to 4 rows of with one row along the West wall which offers Direct Gulf Front views. The Sandbar Restaurant Anna Maria City offers a full bar with a smaller seating selection and some but, limited views of the Gulf.
Sandbar Restaurant Anna Maria City Menu
The Sandbar offers fresh local sustainable seafood, salads, hamburgs, children meals such as chicken fingers, Macaroni and cheese, pasta, and seafood. I have had the seafood salad, stuffed flounder, salmon, and a specialty salad and all meals have been good. The Key Lime pie is very good as well as the Calamari. Be careful if you order the Calamari. Be sure to order a half plate unless you have more than 4 people eating. The Full order is huge and could serve as a meal for two or three.
One local favorite thing to do is to walk the beach to the Sandbar and grab a drink or meal. here is nothing like working off your meal by walking the Gulf of Mexico. The Sandbar has an outdoor entry area however you do need to plan to have a shirt on to enter the restaurant. The walk is about 20 minutes from Peppertree or White Avenue in Anna Maria City. From La Casa Costeria on 73rd Street, it’s about a 35 minute walk to the Sandbar.
