Downtown Bradenton – Organizers at Realize Bradenton announce the fourth annual ArtSlam, a celebration of the arts featuring dozens of artists, musicians, performers, installation art, and interactive art experiences, Saturday, March 8, noon-10 p.m., on Old Main Street in downtown Bradenton (between 3rd Ave. West and 6th Ave. West). For more information, call Laura McKeithen 941-840-0013.
According to Realize Bradenton’s executive director, Johnette Isham, this family-friendly festival features multiple teams of artists offering interactive creative projects, a variety of local bands, random acts of art, video art, and even an eco-friendly labyrinth. Isham says the festival is largely interactive with plenty of opportunities for audiences to become part of the creative process.
Isham explains that ArtSlam installations will be created “live” along Old Main Street. “Because there is no set theme, collaborative teams will creatively use existing streetscape sites while engaging the general public in brief contemporary art experiences,” she says.
According to Isham, BMO Harris Bank is stepping up as presenting sponsor for ArtSlam 2014. “BMO has been the presenting sponsor of the Bradenton Blues Festival for its two years of existence,” says Isham. “We’re thrilled they’re also backing this event.”
Dave Maraman, regional president at BMO Harris Bank, states, “We’re honored to support Realize Bradenton and its mission to transform downtown Bradenton into a vibrant destination. It’s a part of our mission at BMO Harris Bank to encourage and support cultural efforts and initiatives. ArtSlam not only enhances the lives of those of us who live and work here—but it also showcases one of the area’s most important economic multipliers—the regional arts and cultural industry.”
Joining BMO Harris in sponsoring ArtSlam, is the Woman’s Exchange Inc., a non-profit consignment shop supporting the arts of Sarasota and Manatee counties. Isham says that, thanks to these additional sponsorships, ArtSlam will extend past Old Main Street to include the Manatee Performing Arts Center, ArtCenter Manatee, Village of the Arts, the Da Vinci Machines exhibit, and SouthFloridaMuseum. She explains that free trolleys will circulate between these cultural organizations and Old Main Street with downtown ambassador tour guides creating “an informative and fun mobile experience.”
Island Real Estate is a sponsor for the signature installation at this event. Find out more about TheVillageMagazine.net’s Outdoor Pop-Up Gallery here!
