Anna Maria Island – The Annual Anna Maria Island Heritage Day Festival is right around the corner and we are more excited than ever!
Taking place March 1st from 10:00am-4:00pm, the Anna Maria Island Heritage Day Festival is an annual event celebrating Anna Maria Island History. Artisans and crafters will be demonstrating their skills and wares as practiced by the early island settlers. This includes activities such as bonnet making, soaps, wood working and bee keeping.
In addition, the Florida Maritime Museum will be presenting a boat exhibit and the Desoto National Memorial will be featuring early Spanish Settlers. There will be an authors’ corner featuring Carolyne Norwood, Gilbert Smith and Don Thompson will focus on Anna Maria Island and Manatee county history.
Kids aren’t forgotten either! Kids can participate in old fashioned games such as marbles, ball and cup, ring toss and bean bags from 10:00am to noon and 2:00pm-4:00pm.
Live bluegrass music will be provided by State Road 64 from 10:00am-1:00pm, followed by more music from The Howies from 1:30pm-4:00pm. Food will be available courtesy of KCB Barbecue and the AMI Community Center teens will be manning the drink booth.
The Anna Maria Island Heritage Day Festival will be located at the Island Historical Museum complex at 402 Pine Avenue, Anna Maria City, Anna Maria Island.
