The Sign of the Mermaid offers a unique dining experience on Anna Maria Island. Located in Anna Maria City on Gulf drive, the restaurant is located in a house renovated to accommodate dining guests. The home was built in 1912 and offers all the wonderful treasures an older home provides. Creaking floors, artwork, and fabulous antiques are just a few of the items that define the decor of this unusual home that hosts dining guests. Meals are typically larger portioned and on the “heavier” side. They offer seafood, pasta, chicken, lamb, steaks, wonderful appetizers, and out of this world desserts. In season we recommend reservations and the atmosphere 
accommodates children. Sign of the Mermaid has mixed reviews mostly due to the age of the restaurant and the decor. If you prefer a more traditional dining experience, Sign of the Mermaid may not be your perfect fit. If you prefer the journey to a dining experience we would suggest the Sign.

This wonderful restaurant is very unique and different all in one. Many of our guests have enjoyed a wonderful dinner at this location for many years. The portions are very large, but they do offer a lighter fare to share, which saves room for their 1st place award winning Key Lime Pie by the Crisco/Food Network competition in Orlando, Florida. Even if you do not have room, take it back to your room or home to enjoy as a midnight snack!

I recently returned from a week’s stay on Anna Maria Island. We ate at the Mermaid the first night we were there, and had two other dinners and two breakfasts there. Obviously, we loved it! Each time we had dinner there we had the key lime pie, even if we took it to go back to our beach house. It’s the best key lime pie I’ve ever had! Cannot wait to come back next year -
