Beach Walk 2010
Join Florida volunteer organizations, and beach-lovers in Manatee County this coming Saturday November 6th, walk a beach mile, take a picture, and celebrate the Sunshine State’s sandy shores by showing the world that Florida’s beaches are as beautiful as ever.
All 34 of Florida’s beach counties including Manatee have enlisted volunteer hosts from Scout troops to retirees and the momentum for the 825-mile walk is growing every day. Everyone is invited to join this walk and can register now at www.surveymonkey.com/s/BeachWalk to walk a beach mile and upload a photo. If you do not register online prior to the event, you can register from 7am -11am in front of the Islander Newspaper at 5445 Marina Drive on Anna Maria Island.
Registered individual or group volunteers will walk their official mile between sunrise and 11 a.m. and take a photograph along the way to upload to the internet. By 11 a.m. EST, each official County Host will know how many of its county’s miles have been walked and photographed, and will report in to Beach Walk Operations Centers. There are 12.3 miles of beaches to be walked in Manatee County. All photos will be displayed on www.VISITFLORIDA.com/beachwalk.
