Gene Aubry, Conversations with an Architect

Holmes Beach- Gene Aubry, will have a conversation about “chapters” in his career as an architect for the program for the Artists’ Guild meeting on Monday, March 2nd at the Church of the Annunciation, 45th Street and 2nd Avenue. Social hour begins at 6:30 PM and the program at 7 PM.

After leaving Houston and the 5th largest architectural firm in the US with 250 architects working under him, Gene came to Anna Maria in 1985. He subsequently designed the Sarasota Library and the Naples Philharmonic Hall, among other buildings.  Come and hear stories about working with the famous architect Phillip Johnson, John and Dominique de Menil, Houston art patrons, and Mark Rothko to complete the Rothko Chapel at the University of St. Thomas in Houston. “I only do what I enjoy:  being an architect has been fun….I enjoy is drawing directly what I see (which resulted in a book of Galveston Historic Buildings)… and playing guitar evenings at the Beach Bistro”.

This event is free and open to the public. Questions? Call the Guild Gallery at 941-778-6694 or see the web site: amiartistsguildgallery.com. We are also on facebook.com/ArtistsGuildofAMI.
