Bruce Weaver at the May meeting of the Artists' Guild of Anna Maria Island

Holmes Beach – Whittling enthusiasts take heed: the May meeting of the Artists’ Guild of Anna Maria Island will be about decoys and duck carving! This will take place May 5th at the Church of the Annunciation, 45th St. and 2nd Ave., in Holmes Beach, with social hour at 6:30 and the program beginning at 7pm.

Bruce Weaver began his career on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, starting with violin repair, then building boats and furniture and eventually moving on to the fine art whittling ducks and decoys. He will bring some of his decoys, tools, and wood blanks and go through the entire process of carving the birds, as well as some painting techniques. The program is free and open to the public.
