Thunderstorms pounded the gulf coast this week, and brought surfers from all over Florida to Anna Maria Island. Anna Maria Island does not have the best surfing in the world but, when a big storm is brewing in the Gulf of Mexico the waves get larger, and the surfers come out to take full advantage of ideal surfing conditions on Anna Maria Island.
White Avenue in the City Of Anna Maria, and the three jetties in Bradenton Beach are very well known local surfing spots. Yesterday I headed down to Bradenton Beach to check out the action, the surf was pretty rough but surfers were out there ripping it up.

Yeah man, I dont think I’ve ever seen surf like that on the gulf side. Definitely reminded me of the waves in Monterey Bay and other parts of California. It was great timing, too… Was on vacation with the fam., and wanted my boys to see what the ocean was like. Ft. Desoto, St. Pete Beach and Treasure Island were all like mill ponds, hardly any waves at all. Aside from the surf and excellent shelling, we’ll never forget Anna Maria Beach.

Oh, My comments are on the video, which looks almost exactly like it did when we were there July 8th. …Maybe a little tamer than when we were there. I’d also like to rave about how un-crowded and unspoiled the beaches are. Almost like you’re at your own private beach… especially further up North Shore.
